The Role
We are seeking a proficient financial accountant with a solid foundation in bookkeeping and the ability to automate processes to enhance efficiency across the finance department. In addition to carrying out standard financial accounting tasks, the candidate will take charge of recognizing, crafting, and applying automation solutions within the Finance team. The ideal candidate will collaborate extensively with finance staff and interdisciplinary teams to optimise workflows, diminish manual operations, and elevate the quality of financial reporting and management.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Studying or completed a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years of book-keeping and accounting experience, preferably in a SaaS or technology company.
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP, VAT, and other relevant tax regulations.
- Computer literacy, especially familiarity with spreadsheets, databases and accounting software such as Xero, Google Sheets, Excel and QuickBooks.
- Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas.
- Multitasking and organisational skills to manage different financial duties, including the ability to prioritise tasks in order to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Interpersonal and customer service skills for dealing with customers, suppliers and other employees in the accounts department.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial matters in accessible terms.
Key responsibilities:
- Generate accurate monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports for Soax and its affiliates in line with accounting standards and company policies.
- Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Ensure adherence to UK GAAP, VAT, and other tax regulations.
- Implement and maintain internal controls and procedures to secure the integrity of financial transactions and reports.
- Analyse financial data and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
- Assist in budget preparation and financial planning.
- Support finance team in ad-hoc projects and initiatives aimed at improving financial processes and systems.
- Verify the accuracy of business accounts and alert management of any discrepancies.
- Record inconsistencies to aid external accountants in reconciling inaccuracies.
- Manage employee expense claims.
- Assist the CFO with administrative duties and preparation of annual accounts.
- Lead the evaluation and redesign of finance processes to identify automation opportunities.
- Develop and implement automation strategies with ERP systems, Financial SaaS Tools, and AI to enhance financial reporting efficiency and accuracy.
- Manage the integration of new automation technologies into existing financial systems and workflows.
- Continuously monitor and adjust automated processes to optimise performance.
