Our Labs team is looking for a Backend Engineer
who thrives on new challenges and who is truly passionate about cyber security. A highly qualified candidate will have a strong understanding of the software development life cycle and is able to contribute their technical expertise across multiple systems including customer-facing applications and internal tools. This role will make use of multiple software development languages to support and enhance systems hosted on AWS infrastructure. Ideal candidates for this role are able to apply their expertise in software development to tackle complex challenges that arise as our technical stack continues to evolve in support of our customers.

You will:
- Be a key member of the Labs team, contributing to the implementation and support of multiple systems that work in conjunction to deliver measurable business value to our customers
- Build, modify and support applications implemented using technologies primarily in Python and integrating across multiple AWS services
- Interact and deploy system components across AWS infrastructure and services
- Work with stakeholders to define and refine requirements for future initiatives
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team by evaluating and adjusting processes where necessary
- Perform work independently with little or no direct supervision
- Tackle additional tasks outside of your core specialization in order to meet the team commitments
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional experience developing, maintaining, and deploying software systems for a production, hosted environment
- Experience using Git or another code versioning tools
- A strong background in Python and experience developing large-scale applications using Python
- Strong understanding of data structure design and practical knowledge in querying languages such as SQL
- Experience managing and configuring infrastructure and networking within an AWS environment, or similar cloud-based platform
- Exposure and experience across the full stack of software components such as relational databases, API integration, and application tier
- Experience managing and configuring systems on a Linux based environment
- Ability to break down complex technical problems into manageable, definable tasks
- Knowledge of or experience with modern software development practices (e.g. SCRUM, Kanban)
- The ability to keep work hours that mostly overlap with 9a-5p Eastern, M-F
- A strong commitment to collaborative work in a remote environment
Bonus points for:
- Experience working with Go, React or NodeJS
- Experience using Docker to containerize workloads and familiarity with container management
- General understanding of computer networking protocols and DNS
- Remote working experience
- Past experience working in a fast-paced private equity or venture capital-backed company

The hiring range for this role is: $119,000 – $129,500 USD Annually DNSFilter is a pay for performance organization, which means there is the opportunity to advance your compensation with performance over time. The hiring base pay is dependent upon many factors such as level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and/or geographic location. As a fully remote company, our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. and global geographic markets. We pay differently based on those defined markets.
