Associate Legal Counsel | Part Time (2-3 days) | 12 month FTC
Hutch is now looking for a lawyer to join our Legal and Compliance team as Legal Counsel. The role has a broadly commercial remit with a technology focus and you would be assisting the Head of Legal and working alongside our Data Protection Assistant to support teams across the business including Marketing, Product, Licensing, Brand and Finance. This role will provide exposure to interesting work at all levels at an exciting time in the company’s trajectory. This is a newly created role, and as such there is the potential for this to become permanent.
Responsibilities
- Review, draft and negotiate a range of commercial contracts with vendors, suppliers and other partners.
- Provide legal advice and practical guidance to the teams on the above as well as on ad hoc matters as and when they arise.
- Develop and foster relationships throughout the business and become a go-to for first-point legal enquiries.
- Draft and maintain standard templates and other legal resources.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance personnel at our sister companies.
- Help manage instructions to and advice received from our external legal counsel.
Requirements
You will be:
- a qualified lawyer in England & Wales with at least 1 year of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house legal role.
- collaborative and at the same time confident working with a degree of autonomy as need dictates.
- pragmatic and understand the need to balance legal risk with commerciality.
- a strong communicator who can tailor for their audience both in conversation and in writing.
- detail-oriented but able to see the bigger picture.
Bonus Points
- Prior in-house experience
- Experience of ad-tech and/or SaaS agreements
- Experience of working in or with a start-up or scale-up environment
- An understanding of or broad interest in regulatory matters (for example, data protection and loot boxes) and/or intellectual property.
